Miswak is the stem or twig of Salvadoria persica, and is incredible for oral health. Used since the times of the prophet Mohammed himself, it is recognized by the World Health Organization as a valid and primary dental care agent.
The twig is simply shaved at the ends and then soaked in water. The twig then naturally fluffs up and turns into a soft fibrous toothbrush which also naturally contains constituents that make it effective even without the use of toothpaste. It makes for a perfect camping toothbrush, as all it needs is water to soak in overnight.
The twig appears to have natural antibacterial acid inhibitors which helps with candida overgrowth.
Miswak is a natural source of Flouride and Chlorine as well as other minerals such as : calcium, potassium, Silica. It is also a decent source of Vitamin C.
Another way to use it, is to powder the twig in a coffee grinder and then use it alongside toothpaste on your toothbrush to really super boost your dental care routine. This is very commonly done in Arabia today.
