Our Lebanese Zataar is known as “Baladi” grade, which means countryside. It is extremely aromatic and delicious and is considered a key food in Arabic culture. It is commonly cooked onto flat breads called Manoushe, which are easily made at home. Manoushe is traditionally given to children to help increase their ability to “learn” while in school.
Zataar is a blend of sesame seeds, sumac, salt and thyme in a particular ratio. It is a very common and quintessential Arabic food ingredient.
