Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) just like its other fungal cousins is an immunomodulator and as such may provide support to the immune system in addition to a host of other health benefits. What stands out specifically in studies to us is this mushrooms ability to help balance lipids and cholesterol. In fact, one study showed an oyster mushroom extract was as effective as the drug Lovastatin in managing LDL levels.
