This is considered to be a “biblical” incense ingredient and is an important incense ingredient in many cultures. It is known as Thufar in Arabic or “nails” as it resembles a finger nail. Some even call it the devils finger nail “Athafir il Shaytan”.
It is the trap door of a sea mollusk that is ground and used in small amounts in various incense blends. It adds a very unique , yet alluring aroma that is animal yet oceanic.
